Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Oncology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Weekly Hours: 36 hours
Contract Length: 13 weeks

- Floating: Travelers will float within their skillset and may float to the main campus nearby.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, based on unit needs.

Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
- Minimum 1 year of oncology nursing experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Chemotherapy Certification (CHEMO)
- IV Certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including alias and multi-level searches.
- Must have no open cases; pending background checks require signed attestation at start.
- Drug Screening: Negative 10-panel urine drug screen within 30 days of start.
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within the last 12 months confirming ability to perform job functions and free of communicable disease.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol.
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap.
- Annual influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption with masking requirements.
- Respirator Medical Clearance: Required prior to start, including on-site fit testing. Must be updated annually.
- Color Blind Testing: Required if job tasks involve color discrimination; must be within one year of start.
- Competency Exams:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 72 hours of signing, required within 12 months of start.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for this specialty within 12 months of start.
- IV Therapy/Infusion exam required within 12 months of start.
- Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication knowledge with remediation and cancellation policies.
- References: Two references within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference.
- Employment History: Resume or application with 7 years of work history; New Jersey candidates require verification of at least 1 year prior to start with no gaps over 30 days.
- Skills Checklist: Must be completed and updated annually.
Orientation and Training
- Facility Orientation: Completion of annual education sign-off and safety manual acknowledgment required prior to start.
- Baxter Orientation: Required for RNs only; must watch videos and sign attestation before starting.
- Additional Training:
- Pass/fail testing and remediation courses as needed.
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification required only for ER, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs (not required for this role).
Additional Notes
- Travelers must provide a government-issued photo ID and valid driver’s license within 48 hours of signing.
- All documentation must have the candidate’s legal name matching licensing and background check records; proof of name change must be provided if applicable.
- Time-sensitive documents and questionnaires (e.g., fit test questionnaire, personal information sheets) must be submitted promptly to avoid delays.
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies, including floating policy and annual education requirements.
- No block scheduling available; scheduling is based on unit needs.
