Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CVICU

Shift Details
- Night shift, 3 shifts per week
- Shift hours: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- 12 hours per shift, 36 hours per week
Unit and Patient Population
- Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
- Patient mix includes fresh heart surgery patients, ventilated patients, chest tubes, lumbar drains, chronic and acute renal failure
- Experience with fresh open heart cases such as CABG, MVR, AVR, TAVR is required
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of current CVICU experience
- SICU experience may be considered with initial CVICU training
Required Skills and Equipment Experience
- Post-op open heart recovery
- Use of Swan-Ganz catheters, Flotrack, temporary pacers, arterial lines, chest tubes
- Experience with devices such as Impella, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) using Prismax
Floating Requirements
- Floating required to all ICUs, PACU, Emergency Department for ICU holding patients, and Intermediate Care Units (IMC)
Schedule and Time Off
- Every other weekend and holiday required as applicable
- All time off or schedule accommodations must be approved prior to offer
Certifications Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)
Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for New Jersey
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID and driver's license required within 48 hours of signing
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including alias and multi-level searches
- Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel urine drug screen)
- Respiratory medical clearance and on-site fit testing mandatory prior to start; must be updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes; additional clearance if history of positive TB
- Physical exam within the last 12 months confirming ability to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
- Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Other immunizations and titers required: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
Competency and Testing Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 72 hours of signing
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam within 72 hours of signing
- IV Therapy/Infusion exam within 72 hours of signing (not required for OR specialties)
- Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication exams with remediation policy
- Color blindness testing if job tasks require color discrimination
References and Work History
- Two references within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
- Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history
- Work history verification required for at least 1 year prior to start date with no gaps over 30 days
Additional Requirements
- Completion of facility-specific floating policy acknowledgment for each assignment
- Annual education sign-off and review of facility-specific education materials prior to start
- Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing if no valid competency exams on file
- Proof of IV certification required for all RNs except OR specialties (can be completed via specified CEUs or certification)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification required only for ER, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs (not applicable here)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience, with CVICU experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- IV Certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
