Registered Nurse (STICU) - Albany, Georgia
Job Details
- Specialty: STICU (Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit)
- Location: Albany, Georgia
- Contract Length: 17 weeks
- Shift: Days (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
- Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Unit and Patient Population
- 20-bed unit with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 2:1; 1:1 ratio common for higher acuity patients
- Patient types include:
- Neuro patients with brain herniation and brain drains
- Orthopedic trauma patients requiring traction
- Cardiovascular device patients (balloon pumps, Impellas, EKOS)
- Post-op open-heart CABG patients
- Open abdomen patients often requiring bedside re-opening
- Renal patients requiring bedside CRRT management by RNs
- Medical ICU patients admitted when other units are full
- Upcoming ECMO program planned to start in summer
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license
- ACLS certification
- BLS (AHA) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience in ICU or STICU settings, preferably in level 1-2 trauma centers
- Specialized training or experience with advanced cardiovascular and neuro devices preferred
- Must be willing to work within a strict 75-mile radius restriction

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required but ICU/STICU experience in trauma centers is essential
