Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Registered Nurse
  • Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM), every third weekend required
  • Hours per Week: 36 hours
  • Schedule Flexibility: Block schedule requests may be accommodated upon discussion with manager
  • Floating: May be required to float within scope to meet facility needs
  • Local Candidates: Accepted with no radius restrictions
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Illinois
  • Minimum 1 year of CVICU nursing experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • PICC line management experience
  • Experience starting intravenous (IV) lines

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Background Checks: Comprehensive background checks within 30 days of start, including SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender, and other state-specific searches
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming good physical and mental health and ability to perform job functions without restrictions
    • Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Immunizations or proof of immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30
    • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Competency Exam: Required for all clinical candidates
  • References: Two professional references required for clinical travel candidates
  • Photo for Badge: Color photo required before start
  • Orientation: Completion of computer-based learning modules required before first day of orientation

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared for possible call-offs up to 36 hours during the 13-week assignment without pay for those hours canceled beyond that limit
  • Fingerprinting must be completed in Illinois for candidates without an active IL license providing direct patient care
  • Candidates must review and sign facility-specific code of conduct and other required documents within 7 days of contract signing

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. Cons

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
