Description

Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU Critical Care/CCU (Night Shift)

Location: West Burlington, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Night Shift)
Estimated Hours: 36 hours/week with possible overtime
Weekend/Holiday Rotation: Every other weekend and every other holiday required
On-Call: May be placed on call during low census; must be able to arrive onsite within 1 hour if called in


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Care for adult patients in cardiac/telemetry, stroke, vascular intervention, and hemodynamic monitoring units.
  • Must self-study telemetry strips upon acceptance; pass a Basic Dysrhythmia test during the first week to work in ICU-CCU.
  • EPIC EMR experience within the last 12 months on a similar unit is required.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Iowa
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current valid Driver’s License
  • Experience with Epic EMR system

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • COVID-19 vaccine (declination accepted)
  • MMR: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal
  • Hepatitis B: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal
  • Influenza vaccine (optional, seasonal Sept 1 – March 31; facility declination accepted)
  • TB Test: Negative test within past 2 years (TSPOT, QuantiFERON IGG, or 2-step Mantoux); if prior positive, chest x-ray and questionnaire required
  • Fit Test for approved respirators (completed prior to start)
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years; declination accepted
  • Health Statement: Physician statement within last 12 months, updated every 4 years
  • Color Vision Test: Proof within 1 year (Relias accepted)

Background and Documentation

  • Background check within 30 days of start including SS trace and 7-year county search
  • Adult and Child Abuse clearance (state requirement)
  • Education verification through third party or diploma/transcripts
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM HHS/OIG screening within 30 days of start
  • Drug screen within 30 days of start (9-panel, excludes THC)
  • Social Security Number Inquiry (SING) within 30 days of start
  • Resume/Profile submission required
  • I-9 attestation on agency letterhead
  • Contract employee data sheet
  • OSHA questionnaire (annual completion required)
  • Driver’s license or state ID current and valid

Additional Notes

  • Must complete a skills checklist within 12 months (does not expire)
  • Must complete pre-orientation computer-based learning (CBL) acknowledgment
  • Must complete Epic registration acknowledgment after registration
  • No prior travel experience explicitly required for this assignment

This position requires a highly skilled critical care RN comfortable with telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation, working night shifts in an ICU/CCU setting with adult cardiac and stroke patients. Compliance with extensive health, background, and credentialing requirements is mandatory.

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
