Description
Nuclear Medicine Tech (Radiology / Cardiology) - Travel/Contract
Location: Zion, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (5x8 hours)
Hours per Week: 40
Job Summary
- Perform PET and nuclear medicine procedures for adult and geriatric cancer patients.
- Responsible for patient assessment, radiation safety, preparation of radiopharmaceuticals, and scanning procedures for inpatients and outpatients.
- Work under direct supervision of a Board-Certified Radiologist.
- Support provider teams including pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response.
- Use EPIC for documentation and SBAR for communication.
- Typical daily patient census: 15-18 across 3 rooms.
- On-call availability is optional/as needed.
- Scrubs required (any solid color, no patterns or logos).
- First-time travelers are welcome.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in Illinois.
- Minimum 3 years of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience, including experience within the last year.
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- CNMT
- ARRT or NMTCB certification
- Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system.
Preferred Skills (Not Required)
- Experience with Siemens equipment.
- Familiarity with Gastric Emptying, MUGA, Bone Scans (3 Phase, Limited, Whole Body), Liver Imaging, and SPECT (Bone, Brain).
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Background checks within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including:
- Social Security Trace
- County, Nationwide, and National Sex Offender checks
- Education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry Search (for aides and nursing assistants only; not applicable here).
- Physical exam within the last 12 months.
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray per Illinois requirements.
- Immunizations/vaccinations:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination.
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (boosters required if titers are low).
- Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or declination.
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (history of chickenpox or declination not accepted).
- Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (masking required if exempt).
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (must include marijuana).
- Annual competency exams and skills checklist.
- Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement.
- Annual respirator fit testing and adherence to facial hair policy; medical/religious exemptions require accommodation process.
Additional Information
- Typical workdays are Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays as needed.
- On-call shifts are optional.
- Scrubs are required but not provided; any solid color is acceptable.
- First-time travel assignments are accepted.
This position is ideal for Nuclear Medicine Technologists with solid PET experience seeking a travel contract in a hospital setting with adult and geriatric oncology patients.
