Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (Clinical Decisions Unit)

Work Schedule
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Time Off (RTO): Maximum 5 days off, no more than 2 consecutive days; no time off allowed on or adjacent to holidays or weekends
- Mandatory floating within scope to other units as needed

Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of recent clinical experience, including experience in a Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) and Emergency Department (ED)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

- Mandatory completion of PromisePoint EMR training modules prior to start
- Must comply with facility’s mandatory floating policy
- Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year; medical or religious exemptions require approval for onsite PAPR use
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months; PPD tests not accepted after 12/15/2025
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
- Tdap within 10 years or signed declination
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; booster if low titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if low titer)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – May 4)
- Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years; Illinois fingerprinting may be required
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
Competency Exams (must be completed within 12 months prior to start)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency
- General competency exam
- Color blindness testing (required for starts after 1/16/24)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency (preferred for ER RNs)
Documentation
- Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
- Complete application/resume and skills checklist annually
- Must complete facility-specific forms with legal name and signatures prior to start
This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity Level 1 Trauma Center Emergency Department with a structured schedule and comprehensive credentialing requirements. Candidates must be prepared for mandatory floating and meet all health, background, and competency standards.
