Registered Nurse - Telemetry (Night Shift) - Connecticut
Job Details

- Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Ratio: Average 1:5-6
- Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Level I Trauma Center
- Charting System: Epic
- Guaranteed Hours: Yes
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: Clinician may float within scope to meet facility needs
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated

Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut
- Minimum 2 years of Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check (updated annually)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Sex offender search
- Education verification including foreign equivalency evaluation if applicable
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (clean shaven required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
- 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 1 - Mar 31)
- References: One supervisor reference within the past year required (charge nurse references not accepted)
- Employment History: 7 years work history with no gaps greater than 90 days; verification required
- Competency Exams:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (minimum 85% score) within 12 months
- Color blind testing (minimum 80% score) required for all candidates starting on/after 8/2/2024
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for Telemetry RNs
- Training and Attestations:
- Language Services Training
- CAUTI Education Training (except PICU, NICU, Psychiatry/Behavioral Health)
- Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
- Mobile Heartbeat Alarm Module (except ER/ED, Pediatrics, ICU, NICU)
- Stroke Education (except Pediatric specialties and NICU)
- CLABSI Prevention Training
- Preventing Pressure Injury Training
- Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
- Pyxis ES MedStation Modules
- Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
- Patient Bedside Rounding (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
- Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (except certain hospitals)
- AME Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers, Behavioral Health/Psych, Home Health)
- New Employee Orientation Module
- 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for RNs except Home Health)
- ED Handbook (for ED/ER RNs only)
- eCart Training Module (not required for Pediatric, Periop/OR, Outpatient, Case Managers, Home Health)
- Chaperone Policy Training (required if gap >6 months or updated module)
- Fire Safety Module (effective 5/4/2026)
- EPIC Testing: Required for ER RNs with EPIC experience; optional for others but highly encouraged
Additional Notes
- Pending license holders must have an active license before starting.
- RTO (Return to Office) restrictions: RTO greater than 7 days requires approval.
- Parking cost is approximately $125/month.
- Scrub color: Royal blue.
