Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – PCU (Night Shift)

Work Schedule
- Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Weekdays and some weekends
- Rotating holidays
- Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Estimated patient ratio: 1 nurse to 3 patients
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- IV start capability
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Required Competencies and Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must be completed prior to start)
- Unit-specific competency exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam within 1 year of start (with remediation process if needed)
Background and Screening Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including:
- Social Security trace
- Counties lived/worked
- Nationwide search
- Sex offender registry
- Motor Vehicle Record (if driving is part of job)
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start using specific code (3701.881)
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start
- Education accreditation verification for nursing degree from accredited programs (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or TB questionnaire annually
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if low titer
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemptions require documentation
- Hepatitis B: Titer or 3-vaccine series; signed declination acceptable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 – 3/31); decliners must wear a mask
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene)
- Fit mask test required annually for inpatient/patient-facing roles (valid for entire assignment length or completed onsite within first week)
Additional Compliance and Training
- Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment (annual)
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
- Ethics and Compliance policies review and acknowledgment annually (for new contracts signed 11/7/24 and beyond)
- NIH Stroke Certification may be required depending on unit (check with recruiter)
Parking Options for Travelers (Informational Only)
- Multiple parking permits available at varying costs and shuttle services; closest parking is guaranteed but highest cost
This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for experienced PCU RNs comfortable with night shifts, floating between units, and working in a fast-paced environment with a 1:3 patient ratio. Candidates must meet strict credentialing, background, and health requirements to ensure compliance and safety.
