Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location
- Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin
Position Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Hours per week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum 4 weekend shifts per contract, working every third weekend
- Call: Not required
- Floating: Not applicable
- Block Scheduling: To be determined
Job Description
- Provide respiratory care including oxygen therapy, ventilator management, breathing treatments, bedside pulmonary function tests (PFT), bedside bronchoscopies, and arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Work settings include Emergency Department (ED), Medical-Surgical (MS), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Ambulatory, Stepdown units, Critical Care, Nursery, and Pediatrics
- Patient population includes neonates, adults, and pediatrics
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Wisconsin
- Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least 1 year of experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
Required Certifications (as applicable)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on assignment
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start date, including Social Security trace, county searches for all locations lived/worked/schooled, nationwide search, and sex offender registry
- Wisconsin Caregiver Search required within 90 days of start date
- Two professional references verified within 2 years of start (for inpatient RNs, one must be from most recent acute care assignment; applies here as a standard for verification)
- Annual skills checklist completion
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative QGold TB test within 1 year (TSpot/PPD not accepted)
- Immunization or positive titer proof for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Negative 10-panel drug screen with expanded opiates within 14 days before start (marijuana positive not disqualifying)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (October to March)
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge (passport-style, shoulders up, no filters)
- Confidentiality statement signed prior to start
- Compliance checklist completed by agency representative once candidate is compliant
This position offers an opportunity to work in a variety of acute care and specialty settings with a diverse patient population, primarily on night shifts. First-time travel respiratory therapists with the required credentials and certifications are encouraged to apply.
