Job Opportunity: Oncology Chemo Certified Registered Nurse
Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in oncology, including hematological malignancies, bone marrow transplant, CAR-T therapy, chemotherapy administration, and solid oncology diagnoses.
- Patient ratio approximately 1:4.
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM).
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend.
- Floating: May float within the scope of skillset as needed across multiple campuses.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey.
- Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience, with oncology experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Chemotherapy certification.
- IV Certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Required Health and Safety Documents
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start; additional clearance if history of positive TB.
- Physical exam within the past 12 months confirming ability to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease.
- Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption for the 2025-2026 season.
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or compliant vaccination series)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within past 10 years
- Fit test and respiratory medical clearance required prior to start; on-site fit testing mandatory.
- Latex allergy screening questionnaire if job tasks require glove use.
- Color vision exam if job tasks require color discrimination.
Orientation and Training Requirements
- Must complete facility-specific orientation, including watching required videos and signing attestations.
- Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication competency required; candidates have 3 attempts with remediation after first failure.
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification required only for ER, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs (not required for this oncology role).
- Annual education sign-off and continuing education units (CEUs) as applicable.
