Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract) - Ohio, Ontario
Job Details
- Position: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Registered Nurse)
- Location: Ontario, Ohio
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36 hours
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start: ASAP
- On-Call: Call required; must be able to report to the facility within 30 minutes if placed on call
- Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend
- Holiday Policy: No holiday requests off (RTO) will be approved during holiday weeks; holiday off is not guaranteed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Recent travel nursing experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service
- Proof of E-Verify or attestation required
- Background checks including:
- 7-year criminal background check (updated annually)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (updated every contract renewal)
- OH BCI and FBI fingerprint attestation (updated annually; candidate may start with fingerprints pending if clear background check on file)
- Education verification of highest level attained
- NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months, updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, updated annually and after breaks in service of 2+ months
- Immunizations and titers:
- TDAP within 10 years or signed declination
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) titers or 2 adult MMR vaccines; booster required if negative/equivocal; declination not accepted
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Varicella titer or 2 adult MMR vaccines; booster required if negative/equivocal; declination not accepted
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season (9/29 - 3/31); exemptions require masking at work during flu season
- Fit mask testing required prior to start and updated as needed
Orientation and Training
- Completion of online Healthstream modules by 4 PM EST on due date (modules must be completed onsite within first week)
- Review and sign unit-specific new employee packet and job description prior to start
- Completion of clinical onboarding independent study and self-assessment prior to start
- Skills check-offs for specific competencies (e.g., Stat Strip Nova Glucometer, Aseptic Compounding IV Medications) during first week
- Competency exams and core training parts I, II, and III must be completed within 12 months and updated annually (must score 80% or higher)
Additional Requirements
- Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
- Complete employment application/resume
- Must be able to comply with attendance policy and traveler expectations
- Must review and sign COVID and flu exemption forms if applicable
- Must follow facility-specific instructions for access to electronic medical records system (Epic)
This position requires a highly qualified Labor and Delivery RN with recent travel experience, strong clinical skills, and the ability to work night shifts with on-call responsibilities. Compliance with extensive background checks, immunizations, certifications, and training is mandatory.
