Description

Physical Therapist - Acute Care Hospital (Travel/Contract)

Location: Macon, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Day (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
Hours: 40 hours per week (5x8 hour shifts)
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Description

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday with 1 weekend per month required
  • No on-call duties
  • Floating within facility scope of practice (acute care) and to a nearby hospital as needed
  • Unit accepts first-time travelers
  • Must work major holidays if they fall within the assignment period (expectation to work 1-2 major holidays depending on number during assignment)
  • Full compliance with onboarding and credentialing required to start on time; delays may push start date by 2 weeks due to orientation scheduling
  • Non-billable orientation hours vary by contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Physical Therapist license in Georgia
  • Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapist experience within the last year

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start; includes criminal, sex offender, education verification, and other standard checks
  • Education Verification: Degree verification required; can be pending at start with proof of processing (due within 30 days post start)
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; instant drug screen acceptable; candidates cannot start with results pending
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 12 months of start (required by agency, not client)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (with additional requirements if prior positive TB)
    • Annual TB questionnaire required regardless of TB status
    • Immunizations/vaccinations:
      • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters may pend past start if not eligible yet
      • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters may pend past start if not eligible yet
      • Hepatitis B: Surface antibody titer or signed declination
      • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Highly recommended but not required; preferred for certain privileging specialties
      • Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
  • References: Two clinical references required by agency (not client)
  • Skills Checklist: Must be current within 12 months and updated annually
  • Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof of processing

Competency Exams (Agency Required)

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (for PTs if applicable)
  • Color Blind Testing (all candidates)
  • Other competency exams may be required depending on unit and specialty

Additional Notes

  • Floating may include coverage at a nearby hospital within scope of practice
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start
  • Orientation and onboarding processes are strictly timed; delays in compliance affect start date

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. She helped me with onboarding and getting used to the timesheet app and she answers my texts promptly, even after hours. She is a great recruiter liason. Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
