Job Opportunity: Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum Registered Nurse
Location: Portland, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36
Unit Overview
- Care provided includes postpartum, antepartum, and gynecological care for a high-risk population.
- Well newborn care is part of the rooming-in service.
- Staffing ratios:
- 1:3 for stable normal couplets
- 1:2 for couplets with complications (e.g., late preterm, mother on magnesium sulfate)
- Floating may be possible if labor skills are present.
- No on-call required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon
- Minimum 1 year of Maternal-Newborn nursing experience, with recent experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
Preferred Qualifications
- Maternal Newborn Certification.
- Inpatient Obstetric Certification.
- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid government-issued photo ID required on first day.
- Background check within 6 months prior to start, including education and work history verification.
- National Sex Offender Search and other federal exclusions checks required within 30 days prior to start.
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel with methamphetamines listed, within 3 months prior to start.
- Education verification required (primary source).
- Two professional references from supervisors or managers within the last 24 months required.
- Employment application must include at least 7 years of work history with city and state for each position.
- Skills checklist required within 1 year of start.
- Facility-specific professional appearance policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
- Completion of required online training modules prior to start (including privacy, security, harassment prevention, and specific clinical trainings).
- Fit mask testing required within 1 year prior to start (N95 or equivalent).
- Immunizations and titers required or signed declinations for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (immune titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (full vaccine series or immune titer)
- Varicella (immune titer or 2 vaccines)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination (deadline 12/01/2026)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months prior to start, plus TB questionnaire required regardless of TB status.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be fully available for compliance needs up until their start date; any planned unavailability must be communicated in advance.
- Medication override test document will be provided for orientation but is not required before start.
- Respirator clearance and fit testing must be completed prior to start; onsite fit testing is available if agency cannot provide it.
- Candidates must review and sign coronavirus protocol attestation.
