Registered Nurse - PCU (Night Shift) - Columbus, Ohio

Job Type

  • Travel/Contract position
  • Contract length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

  • Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 hours/week)

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
  • Experience monitoring telemetry patients required
  • Must be able to pass the telemetry test
  • Proficient in general nursing skills including IV starts, medication administration, lab monitoring, and patient education
  • EPIC electronic health record experience required

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Current Registered Nurse license in Ohio
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA only; Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA only; Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
  • Must complete Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam within 1 year of start (minimum passing score 76%)
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required prior to start
  • Unit-specific competency exam required
  • State license verification required within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification required for RN license
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881) required prior to start
  • Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
  • 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
  • Employment application and skills checklist required

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire required
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
    • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, and Rubella (boosters required if low titer)
    • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption requires documentation)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (mask required if declining during flu season)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (new travelers cannot start with pending drug screen)
  • Fit mask test required annually for inpatient/patient-facing roles starting 7/13/2026 and beyond (specific mask types accepted)

Additional Compliance & Training

  • Confidential Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
  • Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and signed annually
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required annually
  • NIH Stroke Certification may be required depending on unit assignment (must be obtained within 1 year of start and renewed every 2 years)
  • Annual stroke education (BEFAST Stroke CE) required for nurses working in stroke-capable areas (hours vary by unit)

Parking

  • Parking permits available for purchase (cost and options vary; not included here)

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
  • Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least 1 year of recent PCU experience
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with telemetry monitoring
  • Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system

Pros

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. She helped me with onboarding and getting used to the timesheet app and she answers my texts promptly, even after hours. She is a great recruiter liason. Gladys was a super helpful with onboarding and Denise will hook you up with benefits with no trouble at all. Great team to work with.

Cons

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
