Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Abilene, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Start Date: End of August
  • Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM (5x8 hours)
  • Hours per week: 40
  • May be required to take call and work late days as needed
  • Possible floating to other campus or units
  • Patient populations include Neuro/Spine, Orthopedics/Trauma, General Surgery/Robotics/Trauma
  • Craniotomy and burr hole experience required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year required
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with craniotomy and burr hole procedures
  • Neurosurgery experience
  • Orthopedics Trauma experience

Experience Requirements

  • Experience with craniotomy and burr hole procedures is mandatory
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Compliance and Background Checks

  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification (highest level) or transcript/diploma required
  • Texas-specific checks: DADS Employability Status and Employee Misconduct Registry within 30 days of start

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
  • Fit mask (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S) required, updated annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required (positive titer or vaccination series accepted):
    • TDAP (within 10 years)
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (or declination)
    • Varicella
    • Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31), exemptions accepted
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start, with annual TB questionnaire for positive responders
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen including THC within 10 business days prior to start (no pending results allowed)
  • Drug screen upon arrival mandatory; positive results lead to cancellation

Orientation and Facility Requirements

  • Orientation includes 3-4 hours of required modules
  • Parking available at no cost during and after orientation
  • Multiple facility-specific acknowledgments and forms must be reviewed and signed prior to start, including:
    • Vaccination Information Acknowledgment
    • TB and Occupational Exposure Acknowledgment
    • Patient Centered Pledge
    • Contract Employee Receipt and Acknowledgement
    • Computer Security Agreement
    • Corporate Compliance Acknowledgment
    • Confidentiality Statement
    • Employee Misconduct Registry Acknowledgment
    • Self Identify Form
    • Relationship to Physician Form
    • Authorization for Background Check

  • Annual updates required for some documents and certifications

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. She helped me with onboarding and getting used to the timesheet app and she answers my texts promptly, even after hours. She is a great recruiter liason. Gladys was a super helpful with onboarding and Denise will hook you up with benefits with no trouble at all. Great team to work with.

Cons

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
