Description
Job Opportunity: Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer
Location: Seattle, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (5x8 hours), 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Hours per Week: 40
Job Description
- Perform adult echocardiography including transthoracic echo (TTE) and stress echo.
- Unit accepts first-time travelers but requires experienced sonographers.
- Required skills include:
- Adult Acute Care, Adult Outpatient, ER, ICU settings.
- Adult Echo techniques: 2-D Echo, 3-D Echo, Bubble Study, Color Doppler, Imaging with Contrast Agents, Pharmacologic Stress Echo, Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE), Treadmill Stress Echo.
- Calculations: Simpson's Rule, Diastology, LV Strain/LV Volume, Proximal Isovelocity Surface Area.
- Experience with equipment brands: GE, Hitachi, PACS, Philips, Siemens, SonoSite, Toshiba.
- Documentation system: EPIC/Change Healthcare.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Vascular Technologist, including experience within the last year.
- Experience as a Cardiac Sonographer.
- ARDMS certification.
- BLS certification.
- Must have a valid state license as a sonographer.
- Prior travel experience is not required.
- Must be separated from any previous permanent employment with the same health system for at least 3 months to qualify for this travel contract.
Certifications (as applicable)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification (verify if required).
- Other certifications (PALS, NRP, Chemotherapy, EFM, IV Certification, MAB, NIH Stroke, CPI) may be required based on clinical track; verify with credentialing.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; must be updated annually.
- Education verification required.
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or signed declination.
- COVID vaccination documentation preferred; declinations accepted.
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel candidates.
- Fit mask testing required for travel candidates, updated annually.
- WA State Patrol Search and other state-specific background checks as required by law.
Documentation and Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Social Security Card (as applicable).
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years.
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting.
- Skills checklist updated annually (if applicable).
- Passport-style photo for badge.
- Completion of required annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS.
- EPIC training modules completion required within one week of orientation.
Additional Notes
- Traveler may be required to float to other nearby facilities within the health system region.
- Candidates with international education must provide appropriate credential verification.
- Some certifications and requirements may vary based on clinical track and facility; verify with credentialing team.
- Candidates currently working at another facility within the same health system with less than a 30-day gap may have some background and drug screening requirements waived or extended.
