Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: Bristol, Tennessee
Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM)
Weekly Hours: 36 hours
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Night shift position with no on-call responsibilities.
  • Schedule follows a 36/36 or 36/48 rotation, with flexibility for shift cancellations or additional overtime shifts based on census without penalty.
  • General orientation begins on Mondays and includes 16 hours of non-billable online training.
  • Traveler’s permanent residence must be at least 100 miles from the hospital’s service area.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Tennessee.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist with a minimum of 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Current AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
  • Current AHA PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.

Certifications & Compliance

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification highly preferred but can be pending at start.
  • Annual completion of Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement.
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable.
  • Color Blind Testing required.
  • Background checks including SSN trace, education verification, and state-specific abuse registry.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
  • Physical exam required within 1 year of start.
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 14 days prior to start.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility requirements.
  • Immunizations or titers required for MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.

Orientation & Onboarding Requirements

  • Photo for badge must be submitted within 48 hours of contract signing (neutral background, no filters, no visible facial piercings/tattoos).
  • Completion of facility-specific forms including respirator medical clearance and respirator medical evaluation questionnaire within 48 hours of contract signing.
  • Respirator fit testing completed onsite; facial hair must comply with CDC guidelines for respirator use.
  • Review and acknowledgment of facility dress code, smoking/tobacco use policy, contaminated sharps and body fluid exposure statement, influenza policy, and flu exemption procedures.
