Job Opportunity: Hospital Nurse Supervisor

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Assignment Length: 27 weeks
Shift: Variable (Day/Evening/Night)
Shift Length: Variable
Weekends: Every third weekend
FTE: 1.0


Job Summary

  • Provide family-centered nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents using the nursing process.
  • Coordinate real-time hospital operations including staffing, patient placement, and transfer activities.
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and timely patient care delivery across multiple hospital locations.
  • Accountable for professional nursing practice including independent and delegated medical functions in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Willingness to float between two hospital locations as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Minnesota.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • Manager experience within the last year.
  • 3 years of manager experience.
  • Experience working with pediatric patients.
  • Pediatrics experience.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  • Experience with electronic bed board and surgery scheduling preferred.

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 1 year prior to start, including SSN trace, 7-year county and nationwide criminal searches, National Sex Offender Registry, and FACIS level 3.
  • Education verification required: minimum high school diploma or equivalent; any associate degree or higher must specify field of study relevant to nursing or related medical sciences.
  • Minnesota DHS NetStudy Fingerprint clearance required prior to start (candidates cannot start with fingerprints pending unless approved by facility).
  • Employment application required.

Certifications and Health Requirements

  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), and other certifications may be applicable—check job specifics.
  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start (must state “may work without restrictions”).
  • Fit testing for N95 mask within 12 months prior to start.
  • Immunizations and documentation required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with annual TB questionnaire if past positive)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella immunity documentation or vaccination
    • Hepatitis B immunity or declination form
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Seasonal influenza vaccination or signed declination form (masking required if declined)
  • Drug testing within 1 year prior to start (minimum 9-panel).

Additional Information

  • Candidate must be able to complete Minnesota DHS NetStudy Questionnaire immediately after contract signing to initiate fingerprinting process.
  • Fingerprinting must be completed within 2 weeks of registration.
  • Candidate must arrange fingerprinting at a Livescan location within Minnesota or out of state (may require travel if no local options).
  • COVID-19 guidelines must be reviewed prior to start.

This position offers a leadership role in pediatric nursing with a focus on hospital operations coordination and requires strong clinical and supervisory experience.
