Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CVOR
Location: Livingston, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: Registered Nurse in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
- Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 9.5 hours per day (6:30 AM - 4:30 PM)
- Weekend shifts: No scheduled weekends; on-call required 2 times per month on weekends only
- Float Policy: May float to Main OR after 2:30 PM
- Procedures involved: TAVRs, CABG, Laser Lead Extractions, Pericardial Window, Valve Replacements, Aortic Dissections
- Heart/lung transplant experience is not required (these procedures are not performed at this campus)
- Charting system used: EPIC
- Scrub color provided
- Open to schedule accommodations or block scheduling with prior approval
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Jersey
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience
- CVOR experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID and valid driver’s license required within 48 hours of signing
- Background checks including criminal, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific exclusions list (New Jersey Department of Treasury Exclusions List) must be completed within 30 days of start
- Drug screen (10-panel urine) required within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, confirming ability to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start; additional requirements if history of positive TB
- Respiratory medical clearance and on-site fit testing mandatory prior to start; must be updated annually
- Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Color blindness exam required if job tasks involve color discrimination, gloves, or respirator use
- Annual education sign-off and safety manual acknowledgment required prior to start
- Pass/fail competency exams required including:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency (required for CVOR and adult critical care units)
- IV Therapy/Infusion exam (required for all RNs except OR specialties)
- References: Two references within last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
- Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history required
- Work history verification required for New Jersey candidates (minimum 1 year prior to start, allowing 30-day gaps)
Additional Notes
- Candidates may be required to complete online or in-person training modules (e.g., Iron Temple training for ER, Peds ER, Behavioral Health RNs; not applicable here but noted for awareness)
- Candidates must comply with facility-specific floating policies
- All certifications expiring within one month of start must have renewal confirmation to clear
- Candidates switching between sites within the same employer with less than 30-day gap may have some documentation accepted from prior assignment
- Schedule accommodations and requests for time off must be approved before offer
