Registered Nurse – Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 hours/week)
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:1 to 1:2
- Unit: Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
- Specialized Experience:
- Multisystem Organ Failure
- Respiratory Failure
- COVID-19 care
- Sepsis
- Post-Cardiac Arrest care
- Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
- Liver Failure
- Renal Failure
- Special Procedures/Equipment:
- Continuous Glucose Monitoring for Hyperglycemia
- Externalized IV Pumps for COVID+ patients
- NxStage CRRT
- Alaris IV Pump
- GE Cardiac Monitor and Ventilator
- Boom Lift in each patient room
- Documentation System: EPIC (proficiency required)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Proficient in IV starts
- Experience with telemetry monitoring
- Competency with ventilators
- Proficiency in EPIC documentation system
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous travel nursing experience
- Proficiency in EPIC documentation system
Additional Notes
- Parking permits are available but details are subject to change and not included here.
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually.
- Candidates must review and sign dress code and hand hygiene policies.
- Annual stroke education (BEFAST Stroke Continuing Education) required for nurses working in stroke-capable areas; completion deadlines communicated during assignment.
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start.
This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity MICU setting with advanced technology and complex patient care needs, requiring strong critical care nursing skills and certifications.
