Description
Hospice RN (Night/Weekends) - Montana
Job Type
- Contract
- 13 weeks duration
- 36 hours per week (.9 FTE)
- Primarily night and weekend shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), with possible day shift coverage (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
- Work setting: Inpatient hospice unit with potential support for in-home hospice visits as needed
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care focused on comfort and symptom management for terminally ill patients
- Administer medications and interventions as ordered by physicians
- Continuously assess patient needs to ensure a dignified, comfortable end-of-life experience
- Supervise and delegate personal care tasks to CNAs, ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to care plans
- Monitor CNA documentation for accuracy and provide mentorship and feedback
- Participate in interdisciplinary team rounds and contribute to care planning and family education
- Provide emotional support and guidance to families and caregivers during end-of-life care
- Accurately document nursing assessments, interventions, and communications in compliance with regulatory standards
- Follow infection control procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Montana
- Minimum 1 year of recent Hospice Palliative Care RN experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience working in a unionized healthcare environment (for RNs)
- Medical-Surgical nursing experience
