Registered Nurse - ICU (Travel/Contract)
Location: York, Pennsylvania
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Description
- Open Heart Intensive Care Unit (OHICU) is a 10-bed ICU caring for critically ill/postoperative cardiothoracic, cardiovascular, and general surgery patients aged 18 and older.
- Care includes invasive hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, arrhythmia monitoring/intervention, advanced cardiac life support, pacemaker/ICD management, IABP, CRRT, VAD, and ECMO.
- May care for COVID-19 patients.
- Tobacco and fragrance free facility.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Pennsylvania.
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, with ICU experience within the last year.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Medical-Surgical nursing experience.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Work Schedule & Requirements
- Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7 PM - 7 AM).
- Weekend work: Every other weekend (EOW).
- Holidays: As needed.
- Floating: May float to all ICU floors and medical-surgical floors as needed.
- Return to Office (RTO) maximum 7 days.
- No on-call requirements.
Screening & Interview Process
- Clinical pre-screen to determine fit.
- Manager interview required for final decision.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check required within 30 days of start; updated annually.
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse (Childline) Search required 3 business days prior to start; renewed every 5 years.
- Pennsylvania FBI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start; candidate may start with results pending but must have results on file within 45 days or will be removed from assignment. Fingerprints must be completed in Pennsylvania.
- Pennsylvania State Police PATCH search required within 1 year of start; must be finalized prior to start, no pending results allowed.
- Employment application and 2 professional references within 3 years required.
- Education verification of highest degree/diploma/transcripts required.
- Negative 9-panel drug test within 1 year (for agency use only; not required by facility).
- Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP.
- Fit mask testing within 1 year of start, updated annually; specific approved mask types required. PAPR training required if fit test failed.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required with documentation or positive titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola) - 2 doses or positive titer
- Mumps - 2 doses or positive titer
- Rubella - 2 doses or positive titer
- Varicella - 2 doses or positive titer
- Hepatitis B - full vaccine series or positive titer preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or valid medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccine or valid medical/religious exemption/declination accepted
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days of start; PPD not accepted. For positive TB, negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire required.
- Completion of facility-specific Learning Management System (LMS) modules on PC/laptop prior to start.
- Candidate must review and sign facility-required documents including Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, Commitment to Health & Wellness, Non-Employee Affidavit, and Hepatitis B Declination.
- Clear, professional, passport-style photo required for badge.

- Candidate must be aware and prepared to pass the EKG competency exam on the first try to avoid cancellation.
- Facility is tobacco and fragrance free; candidates should be notified prior to submission.
