Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Walla Walla, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position: Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN) with circulating experience
  • Shift: Day shifts, 8 hours per day, alternating between 7:00 AM–3:30 PM and 11:00 AM–7:30 PM
  • Workweek: 40 hours (5 days x 8 hours)
  • Call Requirements:
    • On-call 1 weeknight per week and 1 weekend every 6 weeks (call only on weekends)
    • Callback response time: 20 minutes, must remain within callback range when on call
  • Patient Ratios: 1:1
  • Float: No floating between units
  • Primary Services Covered: General, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Gynecology, Obstetrics (including C-section), ENT, Plastics, Vascular, Ophthalmology
  • Shift Type: 8-hour shifts, alternating AM and PM based on need
  • No 48-hour shifts approved

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Washington
  • OR Circulate (1 year of experience)
  • OR Circulate experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Background and Screening Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; must be updated annually
  • E-Verify attestation required
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated monthly
  • Education verification required for nursing degree; international education requires transcript/diploma or CES report
  • State-specific searches including Washington State Patrol (WSP/WATCH) search within 90 days of start
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable)
  • Work history verification required if reference exceptions are requested

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating fitness to work
  • Fit mask testing required for travel candidates (updated annually)
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or declination accepted for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B (vaccination series or signed declination)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
    • COVID-19 vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to infection control policies
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually

Additional Requirements

  • Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background) required
  • Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
  • Compliance with float policy acknowledgment (may be required to float to nearby facilities)
  • Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use (travel only)

This is a travel contract RN position in the Operating Room requiring prior OR circulating experience and travel experience. The role involves day shifts with on-call responsibilities, working in a Level III Trauma Center acute care hospital.
