Description

Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Specialist (RRT-NICU)

Location: Spartanburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
Hours per Week: 36 hours


Job Description

  • Position: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  • Ability to float to Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Pediatrics (PEDS) as needed
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
  • Social Security Card (if used for I9 verification)
  • Proof of E-Verify or Attestation
  • Background check: 7-year criminal history check within 1 year of start, updated annually, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Education verification: Highest level of education (associates, bachelors, masters, or doctorate) must be verified
  • State license primary source verification and NURSYS verification (for RRT)
  • Facility-specific documents including photo for badge and compliance checklists
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • TB screening: Facility-specific TB risk assessment within 3 months of start, updated annually; negative chest X-ray required if TB symptoms or history present
  • Immunizations and health requirements:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines, positive titer, or approved exemption
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines, positive titer, or approved exemption
    • Hepatitis B: Proof of vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or declination (mask required if declined during flu season)
    • COVID-19: Dose 1 and 2 required or declination form
  • Drug screening: 10-panel plus Oxycodone and Marijuana within 90 days of start
  • Respirator clearance (RespSafety) within 1 year if respirator use is required

Testing & Competencies

  • Pass/fail testing on EKG/Cardiac Arrhythmia and Medication Dosage Calculation on first day of orientation (two attempts allowed)
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required annually
  • Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgement required

Preferred Certifications (Not Required)

  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) – preferred for ER
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) – preferred for ER
  • STABLE certification – preferred for NICU

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must submit Return to Office (RTO) documentation with their application
  • Candidates will be allowed to test out of EPIC if eligible
  • Weekend shifts are required every other weekend
  • Floating to PICU and Pediatrics units may be required

This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized NICU setting with flexibility to support other pediatric units, requiring strong respiratory therapy skills and relevant certifications.
