ICU Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: New Haven, Connecticut
Shift: Nights (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with floating to Progressive Care Unit (PCU), other ICUs, and SRC campus as needed
- Average patient ratio: 1:3 (days, nights, weekends)
- Call: No
- Every Other Week (EOW) coverage required
- Facility type: Short Term Acute Care, Level I Trauma Center
- Charting system: Epic
- Parking cost: $125/month
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Connecticut
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Background and Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check (including SSN trace, counties lived/worked, national sex offender, federal checks) within 12 months of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification including foreign equivalency evaluation if applicable
- Transcript or diploma verification as needed
- Sex offender search required
- Employment application with 7-year work history and no gaps >90 days
- Work history verification for last 7 years (attestations not accepted)
- One supervisor reference within past year required for Cardio Thoracic ICU; standard references for other units
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure if applicable (not typical for ICU)
Additional Information
- Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted
- Floating to other units as needed
- No call responsibilities
- Must provide photo ID matching legal name on first day
- Epic experience encouraged; optional EPIC testing available before orientation
- Flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31)
- COVID vaccination preferred but not required
This position offers a challenging ICU night shift role with a reputable acute care facility, suitable for experienced ICU RNs including those new to travel nursing.
