PCU Registered Nurse
Overview
- Travel/contract role in Burlington, North Carolina
- Day shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
- 36 hours per week
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Weekend rotation and holidays as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Charge RN experience
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Experience using rapid response teams
Clinical Focus
- Cardiac progressive care with emphasis on CHF, ACS, arrhythmias, pre/post cardiac catheterization, rule-out MI, syncope, and pacemaker placement
- Secondary focus on respiratory conditions such as COPD, pneumonia, and BiPAP
Key Skills
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Telemetry monitoring
- Pre/post cardiac cath care
- Peripheral line and PICC line management
- Cardiac and vasoactive drip management
- Procedural sedation administration
- Chest tube management
- CPAP/BiPAP support
- Tracheostomy management
Scheduling / Unit Notes
- Self-scheduled in 6-week blocks
- Ratios are typically 1:5; may be 1:4 with drips/BiPAP
- Nurse assistants are available 24/7
- RN secretary coverage is available from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM
- First-time travelers are accepted
