Progressive Care RN

Location

  • Hilo, Hawaii

Employment Type

  • Contract
  • 13 weeks

Unit Details

  • Progressive Care Unit
  • 15-bed unit with 3 step-down ICU beds and 12 telemetry beds
  • Typical ratios: 1:4 for Progressive Care and 1:3 for Step-down ICU

Schedule

  • Scheduled 36 hours per week after the first week of orientation
  • No guarantee of hours
  • No call

Key Responsibilities

  • Primary nursing care
  • Telemetry monitoring
  • Telemetry strip reading
  • Fingerstick blood sugar checks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Hawaii
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS

Preferred Qualifications

  • Progressive Care experience
  • Telemetry experience
  • PALS

Floating

  • May float to all acute units in house, including Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, and ER

Equipment / Systems

  • Meditech charting
  • Pyxis medication system
  • BIPAP
  • Continuous cardiac monitoring

Dress Code

  • Scrubs

Start Timing Note

  • Must arrive the Thursday before start for an employee health appointment on Friday

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. She helped me with onboarding and getting used to the timesheet app and she answers my texts promptly, even after hours. She is a great recruiter liason. Gladys was a super helpful with onboarding and Denise will hook you up with benefits with no trouble at all. Great team to work with.

Cons

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
