CVICU Registered Nurse

Job Overview

• Location: New Haven, Connecticut
• Employment type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Night, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Hours per week: 36
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Unit: Cardiac ICU and Stepdown
• Average patient ratio: 1:3
• First-time travelers accepted
• Guaranteed hours
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating may be required within scope, including to stepdown as needed
• On-call not required
• Block scheduling not available

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Connecticut
• CVICU experience within the last year
• 2 years of CVICU experience
• ACLS
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Unit Notes

• Hybrid unit with 8 cardiac ICU beds and 6 cardiac stepdown beds
• Most ICU patients are CT Surgery pre- and post-op
• Stepdown patients include CT Surgery, PV, and Heart Failure
• Candidate must be comfortable with HVC

• HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start

• Physical exam within 12 months of start

• Negative TB documentation or chest X-ray
• TB questionnaire, updated annually
• 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
• Supervisor reference within the past year
• 7-year work history with no gaps greater than 90 days
• Skills checklist within 12 months of start
• Color blind testing
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam within 12 months of start
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam
• Language services training
• CAUTI education training
• Suicide risk and environmental assessment training
• Stroke education
• CLABSI prevention training
• Preventing pressure injury training
• Patient transportation with oxygen education
• Pyxis ES MedStation modules
• Baxter pump interoperability training
• Patient bedside rounding module
• Ventricular assist device awareness module
• AME blood administration module
• eCart training module
• 21st Century Cures Act module
• Fire safety module
• New employee orientation module
• Pending license accepted if active before start date
• Requests for time off greater than 7 days require approval
