House Supervisor

Job Overview

  • Contract role in Bozeman, Montana
  • 13-week assignment
  • Full-time equivalent: 0.9
  • Variable schedule with no set days
  • Nights, with the potential for an occasional day shift
  • Three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Weekends and holidays required
  • 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Montana
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • House Supervisor experience within the last year
  • 5 years of House Supervisor experience
  • Acute Care experience
  • Basic Life Support certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory or management experience
  • Critical care or emergency department experience
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, coordination, and integration of healthcare services
  • Supervise safety and quality of care
  • Serve as incident commander during disaster and mass casualty events
  • Manage patient flow throughout the hospital
  • Coordinate patient care across hospital and outpatient areas
  • Act as liaison among staff, patients and families, providers, law enforcement, and governing bodies as appropriate
  • Expedite admissions, discharges, and transfers
  • Facilitate emergency surgery communication with operating room and procedural areas
  • Initiate and support organ donation protocols
  • Round on nursing units and monitor activities
  • Ensure adequate staffing and support unit productivity goals
  • Respond to escalated concerns from staff, patients, and families
  • Activate the medical staff chain of command when indicated
  • Support policy adherence, team building, and a positive work environment

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Requires regular and sustained attendance
  • May require work beyond a standard 40-hour workweek
  • On-call work may be required
  • Frequent physical activity including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and pushing/pulling
  • Continuous use of fine motor skills, vision, and cognitive focus
  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, chemicals, medications, radiation, and emotionally challenging situations

Additional Notes

  • Candidate must live at least 90 miles away from the facility to be considered
  • Three shifts may be canceled per 13-week contract due to low census or unforeseen circumstances

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
