Description

Respiratory Therapist, NICU

Overview

  • Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Night, 3x12 hours
  • Weekly hours: 36
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Between pediatric units and NICU; may also float to adult units on the main campus
  • First-time travelers accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in New Jersey
  • Respiratory Therapist (1.5 years of experience)
  • Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NBRC
  • 1.5 or more years of PICU/NICU experience
  • Certified Respiratory Therapy - NICU experience

Certifications to Obtain Onsite

  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • NRP

Key Responsibilities

  • Respiratory care for neonatal critical care and pediatric patients
  • Blood gas collection
  • Ventilator, BiPAP, and high-flow initiation and management
  • Code response
  • In-house transport
  • Medication administration
  • Chest physiotherapy

Additional Notes

  • Time off must be submitted with the application and approved before an offer is made
  • EPIC is used for charting

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. She helped me with onboarding and getting used to the timesheet app and she answers my texts promptly, even after hours. She is a great recruiter liason. Gladys was a super helpful with onboarding and Denise will hook you up with benefits with no trouble at all. Great team to work with.

Cons

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
