Certified Surgical First Assist Job
Location
Martinsburg, West Virginia
Contract Length
13 weeks
Schedule
- Days
- 10-hour shifts
- 40 hours per week
- Weekday and weekend call rotations
- Holiday call coverage as needed
- No self-scheduling for travelers
- Block scheduling may be allowed if it meets unit needs
Required Qualifications
- BLS certification
- Current surgical tech certification through NBSTSA, NCCT, or AAHA
- CSFA through NBSTSA, CSA through NCCSA, or SA-C through ABSA
- 1 year of specialty experience
- 2–3 previous travel assignments
- Experience assisting in orthopedics
- Proficiency with orthopedic assisting
Preferred Experience
- Ortho/neuro experience
Unit Details
- Operating room setting
- Main OR has 14 suites
- Average of 28 cases per day, including add-on and SDS cases
- Case mix includes neuro spine, total joints, open fractures, general, and ENT
- No open heart or current vascular cases
- RN scrubbing is a plus, not required
- OR techs are present
- Charge nurse is present
- Ventilated patients are managed in the OR/PACU workflow
- RT is in-house 24/7
- Pharmacy is available 24/7
- Scrubs are provided
Call Expectations
- 20-minute response time
- If more than 20 minutes away while on call, the clinician must stay nearby
- Weeknight call is typically 7p–7a or 7p–11p
- Weekend call may vary and can include 12–24 hour coverage
Orientation
- 3 shifts
Additional Notes
- Floating to outpatient surgery may be needed
- Only one submission at a time is allowed across the system
- Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility
- Previous permanent staff must have been gone for 2 years
- Previous travelers who worked there for 1 full year must have been gone for 2 years
- License hits must be disclosed at time of submission
