Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse
Overview
- Location: Carbondale, Illinois

Unit Details
- Patient ratio: 4:1 on PCU patients
- Schedule: Every other weekend and holidays
- Call: No on-call requirement
- Overtime: Available
- Scheduling: Block schedules are not guaranteed, but preferred scheduling may be accommodated
- Patient population: Wide variety of cardiac and respiratory patients
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- BLS
- ACLS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Work Environment
- Supportive and collaborative department culture
- Manager is accessible and visible to night shift at least twice per week
Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ mental, physical, and spiritual needs
- Plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care with the multidisciplinary team
- Provide explanations and instructions to patients or responsible persons
- Recognize and report changes in patient condition using nursing clinical judgment
- Contribute to a healthy workplace environment through professional communication
- Meet core measure responsibilities related to patient care
- Participate in continuing education
- Maintain complete and accurate medical records
