Contract
- 13 weeks
- 36 hours per week
- 12-hour day shifts
Unit Overview
- Cardiac telemetry/stepdown unit
- 36 beds
- Typical patient population includes cardiac patients, post-cath, AMI, post-op lung surgery patients, respiratory failure, chest tubes, pacemakers, and post-PCI patients
- Higher-acuity telemetry unit; stepdown RN skills are likely needed
Required Qualifications
- BLS
- Must be able to titrate drips
- Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
- Unexpired driver’s license must be submitted with the application
- Must be within 50 miles of the facility
Clinical Details
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5 for MedSurg/Tele acuity, occasionally 1:6; 1:4 for PCU acuity
- Occasional titratable cardiac drips include Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Integrelin, Heparin, Ativan, Lasix, and Nitro up to 50 mcg
- Respiratory support on the unit includes CPAP and BiPAP, managed by respiratory therapy
- Telemetry monitors are Phillips
Schedule
- Every-other-weekend requirement
- Holidays are worked into the perm staff rotation schedule
- Charge nurse is available 24/7; days do not take patients, nights do take patients
Floating
- May float to any MedSurg/Tele unit
Dress Code
- Royal blue scrubs
- No false nails
