Description

Stepdown Neuro RN

Overview

  • Travel/contract RN position in Portland, Oregon
  • 13-week assignment
  • Day shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
  • 36 hours per week
  • Patient ratio: 1:3
  • Start day: Tuesdays
  • One-week orientation
  • Floating may occur within the Acute Care division
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Local candidates accepted
  • Pending license accepted if the application has been submitted and received by the licensing board to qualify for the 90-day license exemption
  • Epic experience is preferred but not required
  • On-call is not required
  • Block scheduling is not guaranteed

Required Qualifications

  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Valid RN license in Oregon
  • 2 years of PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS
  • Direct External Ventricular Device management experience
  • Titration of vasoactive drips
  • Care of ventilated patients

Unit Details

  • Neuro IMC unit with high-acuity, ICU-level patient care
  • Diagnoses include ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, status epilepticus, and post-craniotomy/neurosurgery
  • Special procedures include post-thrombolytic care
  • Equipment includes Stable Hamilton C1 ventilators, vasoactive medication management, external ventricular devices, and lumbar drains

Compliance and Pre-Start Items

  • Must be fully available for compliance needs until start date
  • Background check and work history verification must begin within 24 hours of signing
  • Application must include at least 7 years of work history with city and state for each position
  • Two manager or supervisor references from the last 24 months are required
  • Skills checklist required within 1 year of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit testing required within 1 year prior to start
  • TB screening and TB questionnaire required
  • Drug screen required within 3 months prior to start
  • Immunization or declination documentation required for MMR, varicella, hepatitis B, tetanus/diphtheria/Tdap, and flu
  • Professional appearance policy, job description, coronavirus protocol attestation, and orientation materials must be reviewed and signed as applicable
  • Valid government-issued photo ID required on first day for badge issuance

  • Short-term acute care facility
  • Magnet, teaching, and Level I trauma center

Additional Notes

  • Scrub color: any color, no prints; provided by facility
  • Parking is $16 per day for 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • Public transportation is encouraged

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. She helped me with onboarding and getting used to the timesheet app and she answers my texts promptly, even after hours. She is a great recruiter liason. Gladys was a super helpful with onboarding and Denise will hook you up with benefits with no trouble at all. Great team to work with.

Cons

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
