Oncology Nurse
Overview
- Travel/contract role in New Orleans, Louisiana
- 13-week assignment
- Day shift: 3x12 hours, 6:45 AM–7:15 PM
- 36 hours per week
- First-time travelers welcome
- Float required
- Every other weekend coverage
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
Patient Population
- Hematology
- Medical oncology
- Bone marrow transplant
- Gynecologic and surgical oncology
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Louisiana
- Oncology (2 years of experience)
- Oncology experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Hematology experience
- Surgical Oncology experience
- Bone Marrow Transplant experience
- Experience with Epic
Clinical Setting
- 7-bed positive pressure wing for bone marrow transplant and acute leukemia patients
- Bedside central venous catheter placements and bone marrow biopsies
Equipment / Workflow
- Alaris IV pumps
- Barcode medication administration
- SCD machines
- Alaris feeding pumps
Additional Compliance Items
- Competency exam
- Physical exam
- Fit testing
- Negative TB screening or chest X-ray
- Drug screen
- Immunization/documentation requirements for measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, varicella, tetanus/diphtheria/Tdap, and seasonal flu
- CLEAR enrollment for workforce access
- Background checks and verification items required before start
Notes
- Travelers may be assigned to an emergency team during facility emergency events and may be expected to remain on site or join relief coverage until the event passes
