Respiratory Therapist
Job Overview
- Location: Potsdam, New York
- Employment type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Hours: 36 per week
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in New York
- Respiratory Therapist (1 year of experience)
- Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure issued by American Heart Association
- CRT
- Experience with Epic
Clinical Skills / Experience Needed
- Adult critical care and emergency department respiratory care
- Airway management, suctioning, extubation, tracheostomy care, and pulmonary hygiene
- Aerosol therapy and inhaled medication delivery
- Noninvasive ventilation and high-flow oxygen support
- Mechanical ventilation weaning and troubleshooting high-pressure alarms
- Arterial blood gas interpretation
Unit / Work Setting
- 24/7 in-house respiratory therapy department
- May cover ICU, ER, med-surg, pediatrics, and newborn stabilization
- May work alone or with another therapist
- Primarily adult patient population, but must be comfortable caring for newborns and pediatric patients
- May occasionally perform EKGs after hours in support of cardiology
- May be asked to care for COVID-19 patients
- Must be able to work independently and adapt to changing conditions

- Preferred ventilators: Servo I, LTV, Hamilton T1
- Scrubs: any color
