OR RN Scrub/Circulator — Charleston, West Virginia

Overview

  • Specialty: OR RN Scrub/Circulator
  • Setting: Ambulatory surgery / operating room
  • Shift: Days
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts
  • Hours: 40 per week
  • Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Active BLS certification
  • 2 years minimum experience as an ORT
  • Experience in ophthalmology, including the ability to perform cataract and cornea cases independently
  • Ability to scrub and circulate ambulatory surgery procedures

Schedule and Call

  • No self-scheduling
  • May be scheduled late to finish cases
  • 1 weekday call shift per week required
  • Up to every other weekend call required
  • Holiday call rotation required
  • 30-minute call response time

Work Environment

  • 6 suites
  • Average of 22 cases per day
  • Common cases include ophthalmology, minor general surgery, minor spine stabilization procedures, spinal cord stimulators, ENT, and dental procedures
  • May be required to float to other surgical departments
  • Charge nurse/house supervisor available, but not in the One Day Surgery Building

Submission Requirements

  • Can only submit to 1 position at a time across the entire WVU system
  • Driver’s license address must be more than 50 miles from the facility
  • Previous permanent employees must be gone for 2 years
  • Previous travelers who worked there for 1 full year must be gone for 2 years
  • Travel teams must be submitted together in one email
  • Only 2 candidates per opening may be submitted

Orientation and Dress Code

  • Hospital orientation followed by orientation with staff in ODS
  • Scrubs are provided

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. She helped me with onboarding and getting used to the timesheet app and she answers my texts promptly, even after hours. She is a great recruiter liason. Gladys was a super helpful with onboarding and Denise will hook you up with benefits with no trouble at all. Great team to work with.

Cons

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
