Location
- Bridgeport, West Virginia
Contract Length
- 16 weeks
Schedule
- 12-hour shifts
- Day shift: 7a–7p
- Every other weekend
- Holidays are worked into the holiday rotation with permanent staff
Unit Details
- Cardiac Tele/Stepdown unit
- 36 beds
- Higher-acuity telemetry/stepdown patient population
- Typical patients include cardiac, post-cath, AMI, post-op lung surgery, respiratory failure, chest tubes, pacemakers, and post-PCI cases
Required Qualifications
- BLS
- Must be able to titrate drips
- Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
- Unexpired driver’s license copy required with submission
- Must live within 50 miles of the facility
Clinical Expectations
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- MedSurg/Tele: 1:5, occasionally 1:6
- PCU: 1:4
- Occasional titratable cardiac drips may include Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Integrelin, Heparin, Ativan, Lasix, and Nitro up to 50 mcg
- No art lines
- Will not pull sheaths
Equipment / Monitoring
- CPAP and BiPAP are present; respiratory therapy manages them
- Phillips monitors
- Monitor techs are available
Staffing / Support
- Charge nurse available 24/7
- Day shift charge does not take patients
- Night shift charge takes patients
- CNA support is available, with an ideal team model of 1 RN and 1 CNA for 6–7 patients
Floating
- May float to any MedSurg/Tele unit
Dress Code
- Royal blue scrubs
- No false nails
