Schedule

• 12-hour shifts
• Day shift: 7a–7p
• Every other weekend
• Holidays are worked into the holiday rotation with permanent staff

Unit Details

• Cardiac Tele/Stepdown unit
• 36 beds
• Higher-acuity telemetry/stepdown patient population
• Typical patients include cardiac, post-cath, AMI, post-op lung surgery, respiratory failure, chest tubes, pacemakers, and post-PCI cases

Required Qualifications

• BLS
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Unexpired driver’s license copy required with submission
• Must live within 50 miles of the facility

Clinical Expectations

• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • MedSurg/Tele: 1:5, occasionally 1:6
  • PCU: 1:4
• Occasional titratable cardiac drips may include Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Integrelin, Heparin, Ativan, Lasix, and Nitro up to 50 mcg
• No art lines
• Will not pull sheaths

Equipment / Monitoring

• CPAP and BiPAP are present; respiratory therapy manages them
• Phillips monitors
• Monitor techs are available

Staffing / Support

• Charge nurse available 24/7
• Day shift charge does not take patients
• Night shift charge takes patients
• CNA support is available, with an ideal team model of 1 RN and 1 CNA for 6–7 patients

Floating

• May float to any MedSurg/Tele unit

Dress Code

• Royal blue scrubs
• No false nails
