Schedule
- 3x12-hour shifts, nights
- Every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule
- Holiday rotation required
- May float to other units
- Call/standby requirement: unknown
Unit Details
- Neuro Stepdown and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit
- 31 beds total: 25 stepdown beds and 6 EMU beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:3 for stepdown; 1:5-6 for EMU/floor patients
- Charge nurse available 24/7
- Nurse aides available
- Respiratory therapy available 24/7
- Telemetry is present on the unit, and nurses do not need to read strips
Required Qualifications
- BLS certification
- NIHSS
- Strong neuro experience
- Experience caring for stroke patients and implementing NIH
- EPIC experience
- Must have NIHSS in hand at time of submission
- Must be a stepdown-qualified RN
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS
- Experience with EVDs
Clinical Notes
- Common patient types include strokes, seizures, craniotomy patients, EMU patients, and higher-acuity neuroscience patients
- Drips may include amiodarone, Cardizem, nitro, dopamine, Nipride, ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, and insulin
- Vent experience is not required
Submission Requirements
- Only one submission at a time across the WVU system
- Driver’s license address must be more than 50 miles from the facility
- Previous permanent employees must have been gone for 2 years
- Previous travelers who completed a 1-year assignment there must have been gone for 2 years
- Any license hits must be disclosed at time of submission
- Travel teams must be submitted together in one email
- Up to 2 candidates per opening may be submitted
Health Requirements
- COVID vaccination required
- Medical or religious exemptions may be submitted for review
Orientation
- 2 shifts on the unit
- 12-hour days, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
Dress Code
- Royal blue scrubs
