Surg Tech
Overview
- Contract surgical technologist role in Vail, Colorado
- Schedule: 3x12s, days
- Provides patient care in the operating room and assists during surgical procedures under the direction of a Registered Nurse
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program and/or Licensed Surgical Technologist
- Licensed as a Surgical Technologist in Colorado
- BLS by American Heart Association
- Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computer skills needed to complete online learning requirements, access online forms and policies, and complete online benefits enrollment
- Working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English
- Working knowledge of sterile and aseptic technique, human anatomy, surgical procedures, and tools and technologies used in invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures
- Working knowledge of AORN standards
- Competent or working toward competency with Tier 1 surgical cases
- Must be HIPAA compliant
Responsibilities
- Maintain the sterile surgical field and provide instrumentation as needed
- Check packaging, processing, moisture, seal and packaging integrity, sterile indicators if present, and expiration dates
- Ensure the operating room environment is safe and equipment functions properly
- Monitor the sterile field for contamination risks and initiate or notify corrective action under supervision
- Participate in the Time Out Process, including Briefings and Debriefings
- Assist with patient transports, room turnovers, and room preparation
- Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization
- Model professional behavior and maintain currency in new technologies and procedures
- Role model the principles of a Just Culture
Physical Requirements
- Frequent lifting up to 10 lbs
- Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs, 35 lbs, and 50 lbs
- Required for all age groups from neonatal/infant through geriatric
