Labor and Delivery RN
Overview
- Travel/contract RN position in Kansas City, Missouri
- 13-week assignment
- Day shift, 3x12 hours
- 36 hours per week
- Acute care hospital setting
- Unit ratio: 1:1-3
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Labor and Delivery (3 years of experience)
- Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NRP
- EFM
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Antepartum experience
- Post Partum experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Community hospital experience
- AWHONN Advanced
- AWHONN Intermediate
Schedule Expectations
- Weekend rotation: 4-6 weekend shifts and 2 Fridays per 6-week schedule
- 1 major holiday and 1-2 minor holidays
- 2 mandatory on-call shifts per 6-week schedule
- Charge RN assignments as needed
- May float within the LDRP unit and between departments, units, and facilities as needed
Clinical Experience and Skills
- Labor and delivery, recovery, postpartum, antepartum, intrapartum, and triage care
- C-section circulation and recovery
- Vaginal delivery assistance
- Full couplet care
- Fetal monitoring and interpretation
- Obstetrical triage and antenatal testing
- Newborn and postpartum care
- Blood and blood product administration
- Peripheral IV insertion and maintenance
- Phlebotomy
- Infusion pumps and IV drips
- Isolation precautions and PPE
- Vaccine administration
Additional Requirements
- First-time travelers not accepted
- No block scheduling
- Local candidates not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
- Pending license not accepted
- 2 RTO requests allowed
- No guaranteed hours

- Color blind testing
- Unit-specific competency exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
