Step Down RN Travel Contract

Overview

• Travel/contract RN role in Boone, North Carolina
• Night shift: 3x12s, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• 36 hours per week
• 13-week contract
• ASAP start

Schedule and unit details

• Up to 2 weekends per month
• Holidays required
• Floating required to MedSurg based on patient volume
• Block scheduling may be considered if requested upfront, but is not guaranteed
• IMCU float pool role
• Patient ratio is 5:1, with a goal of 4:1
• Average census is 20–24 in a 24-bed unit
• Pediatric patients are occasional; candidate must be comfortable caring for them when needed

Required qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• 2 or more years of total travel experience
• Experience in a Critical Care setting
• Med Surg experience
• Telemetry experience
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Experience with Epic
• Driver's License

Clinical expectations

• Telemetry skills required
• Common IV drips managed include Heparin, Nitroglycerin, Cardizem, and Amiodarone
• Heparin titration follows a specific protocol
• Patients may need transfer to ICU if higher titration or monitoring is needed than the unit can provide

Additional notes

• Scrubs: navy or white only
• Candidates residing within 40 miles of the facility are not eligible
• Driver’s license is required for address verification prior to offer
• Current NURSYS report and required profile documents must be submitted with the application
