CVOR Tech

Overview

  • Specialty: Surgical Services
  • Location: Saint Paul, Minnesota
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 3x12s, day shift options of 6:45a–7:15p or 11:00a–11:30p
  • Hours: 36 per week

Required Qualifications

  • CVOR Technologist with 2 years of experience
  • CVOR Technologist experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NBSTSA
  • Pending state license accepted
  • First-timers not accepted

Work Details

  • Cases include CVOR, spine, orthopedics, vascular, general surgery, and robotics
  • Preferred case experience: XI robotics
  • Required work setting experience: CVOR, General OR, Hybrid OR
  • On-call required as needed
  • Floating required as needed within scope
  • Weekend coverage only as needed
  • Locals accepted
  • Open to accommodating block schedule: No
  • Ideally no more than 5 days of requested time off

Required Case Experience

  • Cardiovascular: aortic aneurysm repair, atrial septal defect repair, cardiomyoplasty, coronary artery bypass graft, endovascular aortic repair (EVAR), mitral valve replacement, pericardial window, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), ventricular assist device (VAD)
  • Vascular: abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, arteriovenous fistula repair, carotid angioplasty, carotid artery stenting, carotid endarterectomy, endovascular aneurysm repair, femoral popliteal bypass graft, laparoscopic assisted cases, TEVAR, vein stripping
  • Thoracic: laparoscopic assisted cases, lung resection-thoracotomy, VATS

Required Professional Skills

  • Aseptic technique
  • Isolation precautions
  • Laser safety
  • Radiation safety
  • Sharps safety
  • Specimen handling/labeling
  • Sterilization/disinfection
  • Universal Protocol (time out) procedure

Facility Notes

  • Acute care teaching hospital with Level 3 trauma designation
  • 20 OR rooms and 40–50 cases per day
  • Scrubs provided

Compliance and Pre-Start Items

  • Background check required
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM required within 1 year of start
  • HHS/OIG required within 1 year of start
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
  • Tdap required
  • Negative TB or chest X-ray required
  • Measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella immunity documentation required
  • Hepatitis B immunity, series, or declination required
  • Drug testing required within 1 year of start
  • Respiratory safety clearance required
  • References: 2 required
  • Skills checklist required annually
  • Competency exam required
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required
  • Preorientation modules/online eLearning required before start
  • Photo for badge required within 48 hours of signing
  • Minnesota DHS NetStudy fingerprint clearance required
  • BCA background search required

  • Parking is not included and may involve a fee for day/evening shifts

Pros

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. She helped me with onboarding and getting used to the timesheet app and she answers my texts promptly, even after hours. She is a great recruiter liason. Gladys was a super helpful with onboarding and Denise will hook you up with benefits with no trouble at all. Great team to work with.

Cons

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
