Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Cardiac Cath Lab (1 year of experience)
- Cardiac Cath Lab experience within the last year
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS
- ASD Closures experience
- Cardiac Implant Closure Device experience
- Cardiac Stent Placement experience
- Diagnostic Catheterizations Adult experience
- IABP Placement/Removal experience
- Impella insertion experience
- Interventional Catheterizations experience
- Left heart catheterization experience
- Pacemaker/Defibrillator lead extraction/removal experience
- Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI) experience
- Experience with Cerner
Experience and Skills
- Experience in diagnostic cardiac cath lab, interventional cardiac cath lab, and pre/post procedure settings
- Experience with the following procedures and skills:
- ASD closures
- Cardiac implant closure device
- Cardiac stent placement
- Circulate procedures
- Diagnostic catheterizations, adult
- IABP placement/removal
- Impella insertion
- Interventional catheterizations
- Left heart catheterization
- Pacemaker/defibrillator lead extraction/removal
- Percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI)
- Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring
- Right heart catheterization
- Rotablator atherectomy
- Scrub procedures
- Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE)
- Valvuloplasty
- Ventricular assist device insertion
- Experience with electrophysiology procedures including arrhythmia induction, baseline measurements, conduction studies, left atrial appendage closure, circulate procedures, and scrub procedures
- Experience with vascular studies/procedures including angioplasty, carotid stenting, dialysis graft intervention, endovascular interventions, stent graft placement, and upper/lower extremity angiography
- Experience administering or monitoring antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation, reversal agents, and thrombolytics
- Experience with IV therapy including central line insertion/management assistance and starting IVs
- Knowledge of 12-lead EKG, activated clotting time, cardioversion, external compression devices, hypothermia protocols, infection prevention, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, isolation precautions, radiation and laser safety, Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale, sheath removal/monitoring, topical hemostasis, vascular closure systems, and ventilator monitoring
Schedule and Work Expectations
- Works every third weekend
- One night of on-call each week and every third weekend
- May float within scope as needed
- Block scheduling is accepted
- Local candidates are accepted
- RTO ideally no more than 5 days
Additional Notes
- First-time travelers are accepted only with significant cath lab experience
- Previous charge experience is preferred
- Cerner experience is required
- Scrubs are provided
- Parking is free in any unrestricted space
