Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN)

Overview

• Temp contract in Des Moines, Iowa
• Nights
• 13 weeks
• 24-bed unit
• Patient types include rhythm disturbances, heart failure, MI, CCL recovery, and MS overflow
• Patient ratios: Days 1:3-5; Nights 1:5-6
• Tele tech unit monitoring: yes
• Scrubs: navy blue, solids

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Iowa
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• Telemetry experience
• Experience with ICD (implantable cardioverter-defibrillator) and Pacemaker patient populations
• Cardiac Rhythm experience
• Cardiac Drip/titration experience
• Experience working with Level 2 Trauma patients
• Driver's License
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Experience with Epic

Preferred Qualifications

• Level I Trauma experience
• Professional reference/reference check from charge, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the last 24 months

Schedule and Assignment Details

• Required to work 1-2 of the 3 upcoming winter holidays unless the unit is closed
• Required to float across Iowa Lutheran when needed
• Required to float across all campuses: Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist
• Orientation date: 10/12
• NBO: 16 hours
• EMR: EPIC
• Billable OT after 40 hours per week; 48 hours per week for the alternate OT threshold
• On call: $9/hr
• Charge/Precept: $6/hr
• Call back: 1.5x multiplier with 2-hour minimum
