PCU Cardiac/Intermediate Care RN

Overview

• 13-week assignment
• Nights, 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Unit: PCU Cardiac/Intermediate Care - A2
• 36 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4 on days, 1:5 on nights
• Cardiac-focused unit with mixed Med Surg and PCU patients

Required Qualifications

• RN
• 3+ years of experience
• Active BLS
• PCU/Stepdown/Tele experience on this unit
• One successfully completed assignment
• No first-time travelers
• Must have experience with all listed drips: amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin, nitro, insulin
• Must be able to read tele strips

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with TAVR
• Experience with CABG

Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS

Unit Details

• Common patient types include CHF, NSTEMI, MI, heart block, pacer, TAVR, CABG day 2, post-cath recovery, Watchman, bradycardia, VT, respiratory failure, low blood pressure, low hemoglobin, sepsis, and post-surgical patients
• RT equipment includes BiPAP, high flow, and stable trach
• Charge nurse is free of assignment
• PCA support available
• Dedicated monitor tech on unit

Scheduling and Logistics

• Start dates are not flexible
• Weekend requirement: 4 weekend days per month
• Holiday requirement: 3 of 5 holidays
• Low census call may occur for a full or partial day
• Floating may include ICU within patient population and Med Surg floors
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Orientation includes 1 NEO, 1 clinical ed, and 1 day floor
