Operating Room RN
Role Overview
- Travel/contract Operating Room RN in Manhattan, Kansas
- 13-week assignment
- Day shift: 4x10 hours, 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM
- Monday through Friday
- No weekends, holidays, or call
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Kansas
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- OR - Operating Room (2 years of experience)
- OR - Operating Room experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- Orthopedics experience
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Unit / Case Mix
- 6 operating rooms
- 4 rooms are blocked off for orthopedics every day
- High volume of total joint replacements: knee, hip, shoulder, and ankle
- Sports medicine cases include ACL repairs, shoulder scopes, rotator cuff, and meniscal repairs
- Minimal vendor assistance in these cases; nurses and techs must know the instruments, setup, and workflow
- Average volume is about 25 cases per day
Responsibilities
- Pull own cases
- Set up own rooms
- Turn over own rooms
- May assist sterile processing staff with sterilization of instruments or assembling instrument sets
