CVICU
Overview
- Travel/Contract RN role in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
- Day shift: 6:45 AM–7:15 PM.
- 36 or 48 hours may be offered.
- Contract length: 13 weeks.
- Every other weekend required.
- Float requirement: yes.
- Locals are accepted at the same rate.
- RTO after booking is not allowed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- CVICU experience with 2 years of experience
- CVICU experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Required Experience / Skills
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- ECMO
- Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
- Post Cardiac Surgery (directly from the OR)
- Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
- Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
- Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD/RVAD)
- Arterial line management
- Blood Product Administration
- Central line care/management
- Continuous IV sedation
- Titrate Cardiac drips
- Care of Ventilated Patient
- Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
- Isolation Precautions/PPE
Preferred Skills
- Accessing/Managing Ports
- Titrate Vasoactive drips
- Assist with Chest Tube Insertion/Removal
- BiPAP/CPAP management/maintenance
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
- Ventilator Management
Unit Details
- Post Open Heart Recovery Unit
- Also takes thoracotomies, esophagogastrectomies, and TAVR
- Unit procedures include CRRT, Impella, and IABP
Scheduling / Staffing Notes
- Target ratios: 1:1 nights, 2:1 weekends
- Self-scheduling
- Hospital orientation is during week one, with classes each day
Additional Notes
- Navy or white scrubs, or a combination of the two
- EPIC is used on the unit
