Overview

• Travel/Contract RN/L&D in Lees Summit, Missouri
• Night shift: 4x12 hours, 18:45–7:15
• 48 hours per week
• 13-week contract
• Unit includes L&D and postpartum in the same physical space
• L&D unit houses antepartum and intrapartum patients
• L&D has 11 labor rooms and 5 triage rooms
• Postpartum unit has 15 rooms and 2 additional flex rooms
• Average daily census: 7–10
• Rooms: 28
• Beds: 33

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Labor and Delivery (3 years of experience)
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
• EFM - Electronic Fetal Monitoring
• Post Partum experience
• Weekend requirement: 4–5 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period, plus 2 Sunday night shifts and 2 Friday day shifts per 6-week schedule period
• 2 on-call shifts per 6-week schedule period
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
• Pending license accepted
• No more than 7 days of requested time off

Preferred Qualifications

• LDRP experience preferred
• LD/LDR experience will be considered

Clinical Skills and Experience

• Antepartum
• Labor and Delivery
• Low risk
• Triage of obstetrical patients
• Assist with sterile speculum exam
• Reflex checks / edema assessment / clonus
• Sterile vaginal exam
• Use of EFM / External Fetal Monitoring / Internal Fetal Monitoring
• Use of IUPC placement and calibration
• Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Telemetry interpretation
• Spiral electrode placement
• Administration of blood and blood products
• Drawing venous blood
• Starting and maintaining IVs
• Use of infusion pumps / drips / IV monitoring
• Antiseizure, antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, pitocin, prostaglandins, terbutaline, and amnioinfusion
• Assist with high risk delivery
• Assist with vaginal delivery
• Circulate for C-section
• Forceps/vacuum extraction
• Recover C-section
• Neonatal resuscitation
• Radiant warmers / thermoregulation
• Epidural anesthesia, general anesthesia, opioids, pain assessment and management, and PCA (IV)
• Breastfeeding support / lactation support
• Episiotomy / incisional care
• Foley catheter insertion / management
• Fundus / lochia / perineum care
• Wound assessment and care
• Vaginal delivery and cesarean section
• Bladder distension
• Multiple births
• Postpartum hemorrhage
• Pregnancy induced hypertension
• Isolation precautions / PPE
• Vaccine administration
• Facility births/month: 100–200 and 200–300

Float Scope

• May float to postpartum unit to provide couplet care or care for postpartum mom only
